Publisher pulls books after bestselling NH author charged over child porn

By Beth Treffeisen Bestselling mystery author Brendan DuBois, 64, of Exeter, turned himself in following an investigation into his alleged possession of child pornography.  In March, the Exeter Police Department, in conjunction with the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, opened a search into the crime of possession of child sexual abuse materials in the town of Exeter, according to a press release from the police department.  According to the police, a search warrant was executed for DuBois, who was arrested on Wednesday and turned himself into the Exeter Police Department.  DuBois is charged with six Class A felony complaints of possession of child pornography.Gay porno He is being held for preventative detention.  DuBois will be arraigned Thursday at the 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood.  DuBois recently worked with Severn River Publishing House, which removed his work from their website after the charges came to light.  “We are deeply disturbed by the serious allegations against Brendan DuBois. While we respect the legal process, we have decided to immediately suspend all promotion and sales of Mr. DuBois’ books,” the publishing company wrote in a statement. This includes his latest title, “Cross Down,” which was released last month. DuBois co-authored nine books with the well-known thriller writer James Patterson. According to Publishers Weekly, Patterson was the first author to sell 100 million books across all print formats last year. BookScan began tracking sales in 2004.  According to his biography on his website, DuBois is a New York Times bestselling author of 29 novels, including “The First Lady” and “The Cornwalls Vanish.” He co-authored “The Summer House” and Blowback” with James Patterson. DuBois’s bio also lists numerous awards, including the Edward D. Hoch Memorial Golden Derringer for Lifetime Achievement from the Short Mystery Fiction Society.  He also appeared on the game show “Jeopardy” in 2012.
